Went here twice while on holiday here and the food was delicious and plenty of it! Would definitely recommend the ploughman's, great for a lunch to share as the portions are very generous ( not complaining). The staff was very friendly too, overall a lovely place to visit.

Absolutely craic-ing pint of Guinness! I don t say this lightly but this is without doubt one of the top five pints of Guinness I ve ever had.
I had another to be sure it wasn’t luck and wasn t disappointed.
The pub itself is an old coaching inn and has a pleather of character and charm.
A must visit if you are ever passing or staying in Bowness or the Lake District.
BTW there is a limited food menu and the ploughman’s looks amazing!

Lovely traditional pub.
Good choice of beers and wine
Soup and sandwich deal is amazing value and very tasty too.
Would definitely recommend and return 👌

last two times I’ve visited this pub the attitudes of certain bar staff is appalling. Miserable. Seems like the younger bar staff are the only ones that know how to give good customer service. The older ones attitudes are disgusting. Won’t be returning anymore.

Great historic pub. Can't comment on the food as we didn't order any. There was a jukebox in one half of the bar with decent music playing but if you don't like that then then the top half of the bar near the beer garden entrance did not play any music. Good choice of beers. No dogs were allowed.

Stayed in Bowness over the weekend and this place was recommended. Absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended a visit. The pub is lovely with it's 2 open fires.
Service, drinks and food excellent. The Ploughman's to share on the menu is the best we have ever had and extremely good value. Well done to the team at Hole in t Wall. Couldn't fault our visit, and will definitely be returning.

Love the quirkiness of this lovely charming pub. Brilliant in both summer and winter times. An example of this is roaring fire is bang on when the weather is a little grim (we are talking about the lakes lol) and in Summer the beer garden at the front is a lovely sun trap.

Can't comment on the food as we haven't had any but the place is a hidden gem. Quirky with good beer and a friendly staff and the fact they don't allow dogs in is a bonus, nothing worse than a wet dog smell. Just one point, my wife went to the toilet and she was washing her hands when a member of the bar staff came out of the toilet and walked straight out without washing her hands, my wife followed her back into the bar and she went back behind the bar and started serving again, this is not acceptable, and if anyone reads this from the management it needs to stressed the importance of the situation.
